About Morgan Smith

Morgan Smith, is the founder and President of Morgan Financial, Inc a Mortgage Banking Company founded in Portland, Oregon.  Morgan Started the company in October of 1995, with Company Co-founder, Douglas W. McCabe. The company focused initially on distressed mortgage transactions, in particular foreclosure avoidance and restructure transactions.  After experiencing a high level of success in the Portland, Oregon market it began to branch out into neighboring states, and expanded its loan programs and investor network to provide financing to a wider range of customers.

In 1998, the company began lending its own capital and banking loans for sale into the secondary market. It successfully navigated its way through the tumultuous sub-prime markets of 1998, at which time Morgan decided to visit Phoenix, Arizona in an attempt to get away from the then dismal markets in the Northwest. Phoenix, was a turning point for the company, and started what has become a rapid growth curve, in loan volume and sales locations.

Recognizing the opportunity that existed for a well executed branching model, Morgan set out to become the leader in branch development.  The concept was simple yet the task daunting as the company spent the next three years developing what ended up becoming one of the larger branching companies in the industry. With extreme diligence placed on compliance, and tight accounting standards, the company through controlled growth, accumulated and formed over 165 sales locations, employing close to one thousand originators. Today the company operates in thirty five states and has an annual volume that exceeds 4.3 billion in residential mortgage funding.

This past year the company entered into an exciting area as it merged with WJ Bradley Merchant Partners, LLC.  Morgan has accepted the position of Managing Director of WJ Bradley, Co and also serves dually as President of Morgan Financial. The merger was made to increase the company’s access to capital markets. The focus remains controlled growth, with profitability and compliance at the forefront.

Morgan Smith resides in Phoenix, Arizona, Portland Oregon and Denver Colorado, with each location serving as headquarters for the different Morgan Financial and WJ Bradley Divisions.

Morgan graduated from Lewis and Clark College, in Portland Oregon with at degree in Business Administration, and Economics. He enjoys outdoor activities, and spending time with his friends and family.
