The department maintains a recovery fund to cover certain damages sustained by borrowers due to the actions of licensed mortgage banker residential mortgage loan originators. Applications for reimbursement from the recovery fund must be filed with and investigated by the department prior to payment. Complaints regarding mortgage servicing should also be directed to the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending.
